I'm planning a trip to Turkey and would like to rent a car in Istanbul for about two weeks. My idea is to spend a few days in the city and then take some longer drives during the rest of the holiday. I'm traveling from abroad, so I'm also wondering whether foreign visitors can rent a car without going to a traditional rental office. What documents and vehicle options should I expect?

If you're visiting Turkey from abroad, renting a car in Istanbul can be arranged with delivery to your chosen address or airport. The available fleet includes Economy, Comfort, SUV, Sedan, Premium, Luxury, Minivan, and Commercial categories, so there are options for both city driving and longer trips. Automatic vehicles are available, and you can also choose between petrol, diesel, hybrid, and electric cars depending on availability. The Istanbul fleet currently includes 87 vehicles, with listed prices starting from around ₺1,600 per day for an Economy car. For foreign visitors, the service explains that you need a valid passport and an entry stamp, while a local driving licence can be used if it is issued in the Latin alphabet. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, an international driving permit may be required. A credit card in the main driver's name is also required for the security hold, with the exact deposit conditions specified in the rental agreement. Cars can be delivered to Istanbul Airport, Sabiha Gökçen Airport, or an address in the city, so an office visit may not be necessary. For a longer road trip, I'd compare the available options under car rental before deciding which class and rental period work best.
